A flash stamp holds ink inside the die itself, so there is no pad at all. It gives the sharpest, cleanest impression and thousands of uses before it needs re-inking — the best choice where the mark must look crisp every time, such as on invoices, certificates or company seals. The trade-off is that it is made for one ink colour; changing colour means re-making the stamp.

A self-ink stamp has an ink pad built into the body that flips onto the die on every press, giving consistent, one-handed stamping. Because the pad is a separate part, you can swap it to change colour or simply re-ink it when it fades. It is the practical everyday choice for high-volume desks that may need more than one colour.
